![]() Tobin Mueller's musical interests span genres as well as decades. He's written and performed jazz, progressive rock, symphonies and ballets (both neo-classical and experimental), film scores and musical theatre. He's a Dramatist Guild playwright, lyricist and composer, having had five shows produced in Manhattan off-Broadway and a dozen others performed in as many counties. Tobin has worked with Dave Brubeck, Maynard Ferguson, Entcho Todorov, Donny McCaslin, Ken Schaphorst, Bob Levy, Dane Richeson, Woody Mankowski, Tom Washatka and Janet Planet. Todorov, McCaslin and Mankowski all appear on Tobin's 2007 release, "A Bit Of Light," as do artists Martyn Kember-Smith, Thor Oliverson, John Luper, Bill Barner and McBoy. Tobin has released a series of original solo piano recordings displaying breathtaking compositional and performance skills: 13 Masks and Morning Whispers, available through Simig Media. Tobin has always been on the cutting edge of collaborative projects. In 1998 he founded ArtsForge.com, a cross-genre collaborative community that created operatic video games, science fiction ebooks, award winning poetry and jazz music.
Tobin is the longest standing member of MacJams, a free music site for songwriters and musicians. A native of Wisconsin, Tobin has served as past president of the Wisconsin Theatre Association - Children’s Theatre Division and was a Wisconsin Arts Board Artist from 1989-93. He founded Centerstage Productions in 1988 to produce a series of youth educational musicals. As a way of showcasing his musicals, he founded a traveling youth theatre troupe the following year. Among the awards received by his internationally recognized CenterStage Children's Theatre Troupe are the 1994 Wisconsin Association of Environmental Educators’ “Earthguard Award” and the 1993 Midwest Renewable Energy Association’s “Environmental Excellence Award”. His youth musical “To Save the Planet” has been performed over 600 times in seven countries. In 1994, he was inducted into the United Nations’ 1994 Global 500 Roll of Honor for his work with youths and the environment worldwide. Tobin is a member of ASCAP.
